I was licensed to practice law in 2003, and primarily litigated family law cases. I represented parties and children in divorce, custody, and cases involving Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
In 2014, I was appointed as the Associate Judge in the 231st District Family Court of Tarrant County, Texas. I served in that position until August 1, 2022. During that time, I presided over thousands of contested hearings. I gained a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience for which I am extremely grateful. I also witnessed firsthand how damaging litigation can be to families.
I have also served on the Board of Directors for the Tarrant County Family Law Bar Association, volunteered on several committees in our community, and participated in National Adoption Day throughout the years as a lawyer, Judge, and planning committee member.
In my personal time I love to spend time with my family, exercise, and travel. My husband and I love watching our boys play sports and do all of the things they love. I used to run half-marathons regularly and would travel to run them. I've run the coast of Myrtle Beach, the Las Vegas strip, and even in New Orleans after consuming all of that amazing food! These days I'm a Peloton fanatic as it is easier on my knees.
I also have a lot of personal experience in the areas of family law. I come from a divorced home. I was adopted at age 9 by my stepfather. I am currently a mother and a stepmother. I use these things to help me professionally and I believe it helps me relate to people experiencing family disputes, empathize with what they are going through and genuinely help them resolve their conflicts in the best way possible.
Mediation is defined as a guided process in which an impartial, or neutral 3rd party helps the participants negotiate a solution. The process is not binding unless or until the participants reach an agreement, which will be in writing and signed (a Mediated Settlement Agreement).
My goal is to assist people who are dealing with family legal matters avoid the expense and trauma of the courtroom by resolving their conflicts together to reach a fair, equitable and mutually acceptable agreement that also minimizes future disputes.
